Buku Kuliah Metode Penelitian Pendidikan Fisika ini secara garis besar berisikan langkah-langkah penting yang perlu dimengerti bila kita mau melakukan penelitian dalam bidang pendidikan fisika. Buku ini terdiri dari tiga bagian: (1) konsep dasar penelitian pendidikan fisika, (2) design penelitian, dan (3) bagaimana menyusun proposal, skripsi, dan tesis. Dalam bagian pertama dibahas antara lain tentang permasalahan penelitian, hipotesa, landasan teori, populasi dan sampel, treatmen, instrumen, validitas dan reliabilitas, analisa kuantitatif dan kualitatif, serta kritik terhadap penelitian. Bagian kedua berisi tentang riset kuantitatif, kualitatif, dan riset tindakan. Buku ini pertama-tama diperuntukkan bagi mahasiswa Pendidikan Fisika yang sedang belajar bagaimana melakukan riset dalam bidang pendidikan fisika agar dapat ikut memajukan pendidikan fisika di Indonesia. Namun mahasiswa pendidikan IPA yang lain, bahkan mahasiswa FKIP yang non IPA, dapat menggunakannya sebagai salah satu acuan dalam mendalami metodologi penelitian.
